Dear parents, children and carers, w/b 26th June 2017

This newsletter is kindly sponsored by KEITH REYNOLDS BRICKWORK

The newsletter is also on our website and Facebook

Mini-Olympics was great success last week. The children had great fun. Thank you for any donations received and all those yet to come. We are looking to replace worn out/lifting sections of the soft play area, around the slide and taking out the hopscotch and replacing with a rocket ship with countdown. We had a free visit and consultation last week and are expecting a design and quote soon. Guessing it won’t be cheap so all donations most welcome.

We have had fun building our own ’challenges’ last week. The fish also returned last week and our tadpoles are finally showing legs! The children have been patient and are still fascinated by them.

PRE-SCHOOL INDUCTION: 1.30pm again. We can take the children to school but feel free to take them yourself, although it may be best to leave them and not stay this time. Pick up at school at 3.15pm bags etc will be in school.

LEAVERS’ Party: Tuesday morning 12th July we will have a forest school session (for our leavers only this time) Eden’s mum, Gail Palmer is a trained forest school practitioner and has offered to host a bonfire and pizza cooking session for us! This will take place on the school field in the morning. We will have 2 sessions with 6/7 children in each group, accompanied by 3 Hummingbirds’ aunties. If your child does not normally come on Tuesday, I suggest they attend the earlier session (probably about 9.30am) More details to come. We will take photos of this event.

WWW.EASYFUNDRAISING.ORG.UK We have made us just over £504.00 so far. Just go to the website, select cause ‘Hummingbirds Garstang’. It’s SO easy. It really is that simple! Please register on-line and help raise funds for Hummingbirds simply when you shop on-line.

100 CLUB. Raise funds for nursery rent and also give yourself a chance of winning a cash prize (I just won £85!). Better chance of winning than the lottery! And cheaper too! Please do think about joining us. See Janet, or Sarah Nelson.

20th ANNIVERSARY BALL was a great success, enjoyed by all I think! We made a small profit, although it was not intended as a fundraiser.

Next up is our 20TH ANNIVERSARY MASS 10.30am 9th July in SS Mary & Michael’s church followed by an open day in the centre where you can see old photos, current photos, have a cake and a drink, catch up with old friends. We hope you will attend both if you can. Hummingbirds will be open from about 11.30am until 2pm. We also have commemorative keyrings going on sale soon, made by a former Hummingbird, Chris Miller! Look out for these. Funds will go towards our new play surface.

IF YOU CAN MAKE CAKES FOR THIS OCCASION let Janet know ASAP.

NUT ALLERGY – remember we have a child with a mild nut allergy.

LOST PROPERTY – please make sure your child’s name or initials is on all their clothes.

30 HOURS FUNDING FOR THIS SEPTEMBER 2017: IF YOU INTEND APPLYING YOU NEED TO DO SO NOW. I HAVE TO VERIFY YOUR CODE BEFORE THE TERM BEGINS OR YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE UNTIL AFTER CHRISTMAS.

SUMMER WEATHER – Please do send a rain coat whatever the weather may be doing first thing. Please ensure you apply sun-cream before nursery and send in sunhats as weather gets hotter. We can reapply sun-cream PROVIDED BY YOU at lunch time if you request this. Thank you.

Best wishes, Janet, Shirley, Carole, Bridget and Helen
