Newsletter for Week Beginning 9th July 2018

Dear parents, children and carers 9th July 2018

This newsletter is kindly sponsored by KEITH REYNOLDS BRICKWORK

The newsletter is also on our website, on our Facebook page or by email on request

Last week we looked at sea creatures and started talking about seaside experiences. The ice-cream shop was very popular and very expensive (up to £500 per ice-cream!) We tested boats, loading them with treasure, counting, comparing, describing what was happening and why, making predictions etc.

This last 2 weeks, we will focus on pirates, treasure, travelling and in the last week make some scarecrows as some of the children are very excited about Garstang Scarecrow Festival.

Apologies re photos as I have mislaid the camera. Most weeks, we have a selection of photos on our website www.hummingbirds-nursery.com most weeks, giving you a taste of our week at Hummingbirds.

SEPTEMBER SESSIONS – please let us know which sessions you want from September if you have not already done so. Thanks. I need to be able to let staff know when they will be needed.

Also see our annual questionnaire by the register. Your chance to have some input. We do consider your views and try to make changes to improve our service e.g. we have updated our website and now have photos as a result of previous surveys.

Only 2 weeks left! Key persons will be speaking to parents of children leaving us this time to discuss transition documents. Leavers: We will celebrate with the all children in the last week with a pirates’ picnic and treasure hunt. We will take leavers’ photos of daily groups and put these on our website and you may download or print them if you wish. I will not put names on. If you DO NOT WANT your child’s picture taking, please tell Janet.

This is our final letter of this academic year. We would like to say a massive thank you for all your support and kindness. We have treasured your children and will miss them greatly, although they are so ready to move on to school and all its challenges! Do say hello if you see us around – we will not forget you! I met a lady last week on a course and it turned out I taught her in reception in 1989! Although I think us aunties may be very elderly in another 30 years!

To everyone, have a happy, healthy and safe holiday.

Good luck and goodbye to all our leavers!

Parents will most likely be more upset than the children!

We return ON THURSDAY 6th September!

Best wishes, Janet, Shirley, Carole, Bridget and Helen
